CARRIAGE HILL

The Carriage Hill house remodel, conducted in Southborough, MA, was based on the idea of an elegant space that would be both kid and dog-friendly. Both kitchen and great room were unbalanced and dysfunctional.

Great room:

‐ Dark cabinetry chopped the space and suffocated  beautiful half-round windows, destroying the sheer grandeur of the room. New custom‐cabinetry to match existing, all repainted in a soft white, transforms the space and rebalances the narrow half-round windows.

‐ New furniture and layout with “bar” seating allows clients to entertain large groups.

‐ Old fashioned, undersized, and inefficient gas fireplace that was an eyesore. Custom columns and crown molding tie kitchen and living seamlessly while the custom fireplace mantel with new gas insert becomes the  focal point of the room.

Kitchen:

- A corner cooktop with above-the-range microwave was claustrophobic. The relocated new cooktop creates the efficient space that the amateur chef-homeowner dreamed of.

- The awkward-shaped island is replaced by a 11ft long one with convivial seating.

- A small wet bar section with walnut floating shelves, matching the custom walnut butcher cutting block, invites for cocktails to be savored while boeuf bourguignon is simmering.
